Have you ever wanted to take a break from being a Christian? What would that look like? Taking a break from school means that you stop going to school, stop reading, stop getting up early, and stop doing homework. Following this line of reasoning, taking a break from being a Christian means you stop going to church, stop reading your Bible, and stop praying. It could also mean that you stop telling the truth or being kind and considerate. None of us would have the audacity to say that we are on “spring break” from our Christianity, but our actions might prove otherwise.

However, there are some things from which we COULD stand to take a break. What about the things in our lives that keep us from being heavenly minded?  Maybe it’s time to take a break from TV, the cell phone, the internet, or our favorite video game, and replace those activities with something more positive and God-focused. When was the last time you walked in the back yard at night to gaze at the stars and then let your imagination fly to the One who created them? Or, have you taken time, recently, to just be still and let God speak to you?

Take a break from being a Christian?  I think not. Christianity is not a task, a chore, or a burden, it is a lifestyle we GET to live!
