Is there anyone who doesn’t like chick flicks? Ok, I know there are a few who don’t enjoy them very much. My personal favorite is when the girl dreams about a handsome guy, and then he happens to come by and save her. At first she doesn’t think much about it. He is not seeing it either. However in time they fall in love and want to be together. In any good movie, there will be something or someone who doesn’t want to see the relationship succeed. In his effort to keep them apart, the villain wounds the girl with a deadly wound. When all hope seems to be lost, something miraculous happens and the girl gets well again. It can be a magical potion, a song, or a kiss.

If you are like me, you cheer and hope that the girl and the guy can be together. We totally understand their love and desire to be together. If one of them has to make a certain sacrifice for the one they love, we understand that too.

We have a hard time comprehending God’s love for us. Why would a perfect, holy and beautiful God want to love, save, heal and be with sinful, hateful and ugly us? You see, in the movies, he likes her because she is beautiful and kind. But God loved us when we didn’t know Him, when we didn’t want Him – while we were still sinners.

Logically and from our earthly point of view it may not make sense. However, it is the most magical and beautiful love story in the universe. The Prince of creation is in love with the poor, ugly human race who does not know Him or desire Him. The Prince is ready to give everything to win the heart of His beloved. So He embarks on a once in a lifetime adventure to unveil His perfect love in the hope that at least some will see, embrace and love back. His beloved is deadly wounded by sin and the only cure is the blood of the beautiful Prince. Without hesitation He lays down His life. For three days all seemed lost, but then the magic happened. The Prince robed in a common earthly suit, comes back to life in a glorious appearance. His beauty, sacrifice and love have won the hearts of many.

You may not know it, but Jesus the Christ is in love with you, as well. He longs for you to know it. Will you let your heart be captured by His unspeakable beauty and majesty?
