Oftentimes people ask me, “What do you miss the most about Romania?” Although Romania has it’s unique natural charm, it is not places or food that I miss the most. It is my family that I miss.

As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, we all start thinking more about our families. For some this is an exciting time, while others would avoid it altogether if they could. Regardless of how we feel, we all agree that family matters.

It is built into the fiber of our DNA – the need to belong to a family. The Bible tells us that family was God’s idea. Family is indeed a wonderful thing and, as such, we ought to treasure and fight for our families.

Dear parents, please understand that your kids want and need you to be their mom and dad. You may think they want you to be pals, but that is simply not true. Teens are emotionally and spiritually healthier when parents are fulfilling their God given roles as moms and dads.

Contrary to what some parents may think or feel, studies say that parents are still the number one influence in the lives of their kids. It is not the friends, the media or the church. In fact church is number 4 on the list.

The concept of family is not just for the time we spend on earth. The Bible tells us that when we are born again, we are born into God’s family. God is our Father and Jesus is our brother. In other words, the concept of family is a heavenly one; yea, an eternal one.
